Uses: It is used to relieve inflammation (swelling, heat, redness, and pain) and is used to treat certain forms of arthritis; skin, blood, kidney, eye, thyroid, and intestinal disorders (e.g., colitis); severe allergies; and asthma. Dexamethasone is also used to treat certain types of cancer.
Common side effects
- Increased appetite
- Irritability
- Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
- Swelling in your ankles and feet (fluid retention)
- Heartburn
- Muscle weakness
- Impaired wound healing
- Increased blood sugar levels. (Persons with Diabetes may need to have blood sugar levels monitored more closely and possible adjustments to diabetes medications).
This medicine is prescription only medicine (POM) and treatment must be prescribed by a doctor or appropriately qualified health practitioner.
