Bactericidal action
By Inhibition of the enzymes topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV (both Type II topoisomerases),
which are required for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination.
Indication
Infections, including lower respiratory tract, skin and skin structures, bone and joint
Acute sinusitis, complicated intraabdominal (w. metronidazole) UTIs,
chronic bacterial prostatitis, acute uncomplicated cystitis in females.
Postexposure prophylaxis and treatment of anthrax.
Dosage
Recommended dosage is 250 to 500 mg single or twice daily for 7 to 14 days or dosage directed by the physician
